RE: Grinder Bits
Posted by Tod on 2/6/2017 11:56:08 AM Send Private Message
If you're sure the problem is with the shaft and not just with a couple of old bits, you can actually file the shaft! First, double-check the ends of the holes in the bits to be sure they're not damaged. If they're OK, turn on the grinder, sans bit, and gently hold the file against the shaft. Remember that the flat will cause some bumpy-ness! If you're not sure if the old bits are the problem but have a set of drill bits, you can test the sizes of the holes with the round ends of the drill bits! If they each accept the same size drill bit end, the holes are probably nearly identical so filing down the shaft might be a good choice. BTW: An item called a faucet puller (plumbing department in the hardware) can also be used to pull off stuck grinder bits.
